Dec 12th: Having been half-drowned on their first day by the extraordinary rainstorm, father & son duo Maurice & James Henchey fared much better the next day, taking 18 bones between them. Confirming the trend of recent weeks, the fish were much bigger than usual, with four over 5lbs and six more over 4lbs.
Yesterday, James went even further with an 8-pounder (pictured), one of eight fish taken by the pair. And today, fishing solo, he boated a remarkable 33 bones to 5.5lbs, while his father golfed at Winding Bay (shooting a creditable 84).
As lodge activity winds down with Christmas looming, let me take this opportunity to wish a very Happy Chistmas to all our members, guests, staff and other blog followers – and best wishes for a prosperous and fishy new year.
