Glorious Christmas fishing weather
Dec 28th: Max reports that the weather over the past week or more has been fantastic for bonefishing – loads of sunshine and minimal cloud cover. Although the winds have sometimes been out of the NW, cooling things down a bit and sending the bonefish to slightly deeper water early and later in the day, there have been plenty of fish taken. The best bag fell to Jack Mathews & George Sturla from the UK who took 13 in a day, guided by Joe Bodie.
There were a few first-ever bonefish, notably for Millie Mantle, Bun Mathews and George Sturla from the UK and for Roland and Conrad Cassirer from New York.
Max has discovered some great new wading spots around Abaco, with lots of big bones seen, especially on the falling tide. The fish, however, have been very nervous and finicky of late, with only a couple landed and a few more hook-ups. But the almost perfect conditions, combined with great picnic lunches on the beach and the most beautiful Bahamian scenery, made up for the lack of big bags.
The Cassirer and Leland families, who have taken over the Club for Christmas week, have been having a great time. We now look forward to a busy New Year and hope for continued clement weather.
