Fun for all the family
Feb 23rd: We had a lovely time last week, with three generations of the Springett family from England and Ireland celebrating grandfather Rod’s 70th birthday and with several members of the party bone fishing for the first time. The weather was generally divine, with just a few tropical downpours that failed to dampen the spirits.
There was lots of snorkelling, shelling, kayaking, boat trips to Hope Town and blue-hole-diving to entertain the younger ones, while other guests went scuba diving. And there was lots of bone fishing. Happily, Rod took his first ever bonefish on his birthday and followed up with several more.
No less than five family members – Rod, Ros, Matt, Lochie (aged 12) & Fionn (aged 9) – caught their first ever bone, with young Lochie taking the best fish of the week, which weighed about 6lbs (pictured). Among the many other fish taken was young Fionn’s bizarre guppy-like thing that we have yet to identify – anyone know what it is?
Other guests at the Club did well too, with Michael & Betty Hayes, again from Ireland, taking 17 bones in one day to top the catch league. And Jon Exton from England also caught his first ever bone.
