Double figure catches
November 20th: Anglers are seeing very large numbers of bonefish in the Abaco Marls this week and catches have picked up sharply, with ten to twenty bones taken per boat per day (and many others hooked and lost) the norm. As is usual for the time of year, the bonefish are “schooling up” – forming large groups – and surging down the outer west side of the Marls.
For beginners, such as Michael Reid’s party of four from the UK, it has been an action-packed baptism. For more seasoned pros, such as Alex & Trish Findlater and Margaret Downes from Ireland, catches of more than twenty bonefish a day are almost an expectation.
Even on a cloudy day, such as yesterday, the bow-wave made by the big schools is impossible to miss and fishing continues at a furious pace.
